Stairs
This picture is of stairs going to the beach. This picture does follow the rule of thirds. In this photo, there is line and texture that you can see. The railings of the stairs act as leading lines down to the beach and the texture is created by sand, wood grain, and water. This photo also has a sense of depth created by the high point of view. The main focal point of this picture is the bottom of the stairs. This picture puts you in a peaceful mood.
marsh
The photo above was taken at Pierce's Beach. The picture forces you to look at the surface of the water and the reflection of light on the water. In this photo. the river has leading lines that start at the bottom of the frame and goes along the left side of the photo then across the middle. Framing and depth are also important as the land frames each side of the water and we see foreground, middle ground, and background in the picture. The sun hitting certain parts of the picture creates highlights in the photo.
stones
This composition shows the texture and pattern picture of a stone pathway. The pattern that appears in this photo is the thin and thick stones in each column. This was taken by looking down at the pathway and the rule of thirds does apply to this composition. There is no main focal point, the whole picture is really the point. I considered the distance in this photo because I had to stand close so that the stone path would fill the frame. This photo forces you to look at the details of the stones.
Food color
This composition is of three bottles of food coloring. This was taken straight on and the rule of thirds is in this composition. I manually set the aperture so that the depth of field would be shallow. The green bottle is the main focal point and is the only one in focus. I considered the distance in this photo because I had to shoot the photo close to the bottles. I also had to experiment with the lighting so that you could see the shadows cast to the right of the bottles. The red, yellow, and green are a great contrast to the background.
Window Reflection
This composition is a reflection of trees through a window. This was taken looking upwards so I wasn't reflected in the window. The rule of thirds does apply to this composition. The window splits the reflection into three columns. The reflection is the main focal point. The photo was taken in the afternoon. This photo makes you feel like the trees are inside the building but they are just a reflection.
TREE
This composition is a tree found in the open woods. This was taken straight on and the rule of thirds does apply to this composition. The ground in the front of the picture is one row, the trees in the middle are another row, and the sky/horizon is the last row. The tree is the main focal point. I considered the distance in this photo to make the sure the tree would fill the frame. The photo was taken in the afternoon. This photo on an overcast day created a sad or gloomy.
